Cain Velasquez on Antonio Silva: I haven't fought anybody like him yet
3-25: "I think the combination [of skills] that he has I haven't fought anybody like him yet"
UFC 146 HEAVYWEIGHTS PREDICT STRIKEFORCE HEAVYWEIGHT GRAND PRIX FINAL WINNER
Junior dos Santos, reigning UFC heavyweight champion, said: “They are both great fighters and this is a fight that could end very quickly for each guy. But Cormier is more explosive and has the better chances to end this early. It could be very exciting, but I think Cormier wins.”
Frank Mir, two-time UFC heavyweight champion, said: “I think Cormier takes this. I can’t see Barnett getting him to the ground, his wrestling is too strong. And on the feet I think Cormier has the power to end things. But with two top heavyweights, anything can happen. That’s why this division is so exciting - anyone who is world class can beat anyone else with one punch. You can’t say that about the lighter weight classes and that’s why heavyweight fights are so cool to watch.”
Cain Velasquez, former UFC heavyweight champion said: “I pick Daniel Cormier. Number one, because I train with him but also because he’s so hungry in this sport, I don’t think he will be denied. He was really raw when he came into our gym the first time a couple of years ago but he picked up everything a lot faster than most. He has dangerous strikes and I can’t see Josh getting him to the ground. Daniel’s wrestling is too good; I think he takes this fight and makes a statement about his future in the division.”
Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, who reached the Grand Prix semi-final stage before losing to Cormier, also picked his old rival for the win, saying: “I think Cormier will win this fight and be the Grand Prix Champion. I was very surprised by him in our fight. I think he is too strong, too powerful in this fight. He punches very hard and his wrestling is very good. I think he will win inside the distance unless Josh Barnett gets this to the ground quickly.”

Cain Velasquez: Antonio has a lot of power in his hands
“He is a big guy and has a lot of power in his hands,” said Velasquez, during a recent edition of “UFC Tonight.” “He is a guy who mixes up everything really well. He is not just a boxer, he is good on the ground, (and) he is a guy who is durable. I have seen his last fights and he doesn’t really get tired out there, so he is going to be in it the whole fight.”
Cain Velasquez:I will try to beat Bigfoot off the quickness
On his plan:
"'Bigfoot's' a big guy, you know? I think he does everything well. He mixes up his punches and kicks really well. For me, I think, with his overall size, I gotta be quicker than him. So, a lot of 'in and out.' If the takedown's there, take it. Just try to beat him off the quickness."
On getting some tips from the Cormier/Silva fight:
"The training sessions with Daniel have been great. The type of athleticism and skill that he brings to this, it's just great to be in with a guy like that, every day, to train with a guy like that, every day. As far as him, with his fight with Silva, he took him apart early. He told me what he felt out there, even though it was short. But, I'm not expecting to fight the same guy that he fought. I'm expecting to fight a better guy. He dismembered him so quickly."

Cain Velasquez is fine with Frank Mir replacing Overeem
"I definitely think that's fair," Velasquez said. "He's off a three-fight winning streak, and dos Santos beat me fair and square. I'm definitely mad about mine, but I know with one more fight, I'll be in the same position. If that did come up, then yeah, I'd be fine with that.
As far as we know right now, it's Frank, so that's what I'm getting ready for. But if it turned out to be different, it didn't matter who it'd be, as long as it's one more to get in that same position, to fight for the heavyweight title."
